Overview

MC: 1.2+ Spring Worlds, 1k, Aged Hardware Compatible Worlds - Improved MC compatibility · McMeddons 2025 Announcement

With time, my worlds have become newer, bigger and more complex. Using the latest versions and features. Making it increasingly difficult to run worlds for people,... with fps challenged hardware. And for those who may have forgotten—or who are still dedicated and enjoying the classic charm of the oldest versions. Time to change that and make worlds more inclusive, by making them playeable for everyone.

Questions about April World

What is April World?

April World is a hand-made survival world of 1,025 × 1,025 blocks, made with WorldPainter, World Machine, Gaea, Axiom and WorldEdit, built for Minecraft Java 1.12.2. You download the world folder and play it like any other save, in singleplayer or on your own server.

How big is April World?

1,025 × 1,025 blocks, so about 1 million blocks of surface. Walking from one edge to the other takes roughly 4 minutes at normal walking speed. The terrain runs from Y 0 to Y 255.

Outside that area the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so you never hit a wall, you just leave the built part behind.

Which Minecraft version does April World need?

April World is built for Minecraft Java 1.12.2. Newer releases normally open it fine. Opening it in an older release is not supported: blocks and structures added after that version cannot load, and the world can be damaged by the attempt.

Bedrock players need a converted copy. See the Bedrock notes in the FAQ.

Which biomes are in April World?

14 in total. The land is mostly Plains (57.9%), Taiga (16.5%), Forest (9.2%) and Birch Forest (6.3%), counted as shares of the land rather than of the whole map.

Water covers 52.5% of the map, and land 47.6%.

The full breakdown is further up this page, with every biome and its share.

Which structures are in April World?

1 of the 10 structure types the scan checks are confirmed present: surface (0/5), underground (1/3), ocean (0/1) and settlements (0/1).

Not confirmed: Desert pyramids (not checked), Igloos (not checked), Jungle pyramids (not checked), Swamp huts (not checked), Woodland mansions (not checked) and Mineshafts (not checked). "Searched, not found" means the scan looked and came up empty; "not checked" means it has not been looked for yet.

The structure list above names every one of them.

Is April World ready to play in survival?

Yes. A scan of the world file confirms loot tables and structures, so the survival loop runs from the first night: chests hold the game's real loot tables, mobs spawn as they do anywhere else, and you can mine, farm and build without adding anything. It plays in vanilla Minecraft, with no mods, no datapacks and no creative mode.

The scan did not see animals and ores in this export. That means it did not find any, not that none can be found or bred here.

The world contents report at the bottom of this page holds the item-by-item detail.

Where do I download April World?

From the download link on Google Drive, also on the button at the top of this page.

Also available: the PlanetMinecraft project page, which carries the release notes and the known issues for this particular build.

Can I look at April World before downloading it?

Yes. Open it in the 3D explorer and fly the real terrain in your browser, with the biomes, the caves and the marked structures. Nothing to install.

How do I install April World on Java Edition?

  1. Unpack the archive you downloaded from Google Drive.
  2. Open your saves folder. On Windows press Win + R and enter %appdata%\.minecraft\saves. On macOS it is ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves, on Linux ~/.minecraft/saves.
  3. Move the unpacked folder in. It must be the folder that contains level.dat, not a folder wrapping it.
  4. Restart Minecraft on 1.12.2 or newer and pick the world in singleplayer.

Can I play it on Bedrock, or on a server?

Bedrock needs a converted .mcworld copy, and converted worlds carry their own quirks around spawn, chests and villagers.

For a server, drop the world folder in as the server's world and start it.
