Questions about Advent Map 24
- What is Advent Map 24?
-
Advent Map 24 is a hand-made survival world of 3,072 × 3,072 blocks, made with WorldPainter, World Machine, Gaea, Axiom and WorldEdit, built for Minecraft Java 1.21.5. You download the world folder and play it like any other save, in singleplayer or on your own server.
- How big is Advent Map 24?
-
3,072 × 3,072 blocks, so about 9 million blocks of surface. Walking from one edge to the other takes roughly 12 minutes at normal walking speed. The terrain runs from Y -64 to Y 320.
Outside that area the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so you never hit a wall, you just leave the built part behind.
- Which Minecraft version does Advent Map 24 need?
-
Advent Map 24 is built for Minecraft Java 1.21.5. Newer releases normally open it fine. Opening it in an older release is not supported: blocks and structures added after that version cannot load, and the world can be damaged by the attempt.
Bedrock players need a converted copy. See the Bedrock notes in the FAQ.
- Which biomes are in Advent Map 24?
-
19 in total. The land is mostly Snowy Taiga (36.0%), Snowy Plains (31.7%), Snowy Slopes (8.1%) and Stony Shore (7.4%), counted as shares of the land rather than of the whole map.
Water covers 37.2% of the map, and land 62.7%.
By volume this world's caves are Normal Caves (91.4%), Lush Caves (3.1%) and Ice Caves (2.9%). The cave breakdown has the rest.
The full breakdown is further up this page, with every biome and its share.
- Which structures are in Advent Map 24?
-
11 of the 19 structure types the scan checks are confirmed present: surface (2/7), underground (4/6), ocean (3/4), portal structures (1/1) and settlements (1/1).
Not confirmed: Desert pyramids (not checked), Igloos (not checked), Jungle pyramids (not checked), Swamp huts (not checked), Woodland mansions (not checked) and Ancient cities (missing). "Searched, not found" means the scan looked and came up empty; "not checked" means it has not been looked for yet.
The structure list above names every one of them.
- Is Advent Map 24 ready to play in survival?
-
Yes. A scan of the world file confirms loot tables, structures, animals and ores, so the survival loop runs from the first night: chests hold the game's real loot tables, mobs spawn as they do anywhere else, and you can mine, farm and build without adding anything. It plays in vanilla Minecraft, with no mods, no datapacks and no creative mode.
The world contents report at the bottom of this page holds the item-by-item detail.
- Where do I download Advent Map 24?
-
From the download link on Google Drive, also on the button at the top of this page.
Also available: the PlanetMinecraft project page, which carries the release notes and the known issues for this particular build.
- What is new in Advent Map 24?
-
Every world is built on the one before it, and Advent Map 24 brought 4 logged changes into the line: new terrain, new assets and fixes to the generators that made it.
From its list:
- added gravel slopes
- reworked the desert river walls
- updated the forest floors
The full list is on this page. These are the world's own additions, not patches released after it, so an older download is not missing them.
- Can I look at Advent Map 24 before downloading it?
-
Yes. Open it in the 3D explorer and fly the real terrain in your browser, with the biomes, the caves and the marked structures. Nothing to install.
How do I install Advent Map 24 on Java Edition?
- Unpack the archive you downloaded from Google Drive.
- Open your saves folder. On Windows press
Win+Rand enter%appdata%\.minecraft\saves. On macOS it is~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves, on Linux~/.minecraft/saves. - Move the unpacked folder in. It must be the folder that contains
level.dat, not a folder wrapping it. - Restart Minecraft on 1.21.5 or newer and pick the world in singleplayer.
Can I play it on Bedrock, or on a server?
Bedrock needs a converted .mcworld copy, and converted worlds carry their own
quirks around spawn, chests and villagers.
For a server, drop the world folder in as the server's world and start it.
What may I do with it?
The worlds are released under CC BY-NC 4.0. The Rights panel on this page lists what that allows and how to credit it.
